Description
One of five calacas I'm making for El Dia de los Muertos. It's the "novio," or groom, part of a small wedding party that includes the bride, groom, priest, flower girl and ring bearer. I'll be posting pics of each of them individually as I get them made, then a group shot when they're all complete. I touched up this picture so that the wooden stand he's on doesn't show. I made him on a hand made wooden and silver wire armature with polymer clay. His hands and left pant leg actually scorched a little when I baked the pieces (skull, torso and legs are baked separately, then assembled on the dowel,) so I used a little acrylic paint to touch them up. There are tiny Swarovski crystals for his buttons and in the center of his flower. This is an original design, and no, I am not copying skeletons from The Corpse Bride. They might look a little similar, but you'll see they're different if you compare them side by side.
